Albert passed away from respiratory failure, following a courageous battle with leukemia. He was 72 years of age. Born on January 3, 1940 in Grafton, N.S., he was the son of the late Herb and Evelyn (Clarke) Rose. Having grown up on his grandfather’s (John H. Clarke) farm in the valley of Nova Scotia, there were many qualities of life that Albert learned, at a very young age from his grandfather, which he carried throughout his life. He lived by these principles every day. Albert had an outstanding career with Atlantic Wholesalers, where he worked for 44 years, starting out as a truck driver in Coldbrook, N.S. and retiring in 1993 as President of the company, a position he held for the last 10 years of his career. Albert was a family man and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather taking great pride in his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and tell stories. The past few years his daily visits to Lake’s General Store for a cup of tea and to hear a joke was of much importance to him. He treated everyone equally, no matter what their position in life was and always tried to treat people fairly and do what was right for all. Albert was a member of the K-40 Club, United Church of Canada in Murray Corner, Perfect Circle Motor Home Group, past member of the Masonic Horton Lodge, Sackville Rotary Club and served two terms on the Board of Regents at Mount Allison University. Albert and Ardyth had many friends and enjoyed traveling in their Bluebird Motor Home, crossing Canada three times and spending winters in Florida for the past twenty years. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 52 years, Ardyth (Kinsman); three sons, Tim (Tina Tapley) of Sackville, N.B., John (Melinda) of Banff, AB and Andy (Roxanne) of Sackville, N.B.; sister, Kate Swachammer of Guelph, ON; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Megan, Heather, Bradley, Jesse Johnson, Lisa (Ryan Doncaster), Jillian and Matthew and by two daughters-in-law, Wendy and Sherry Rose. In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased by his younger sister Carol.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Albert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours.
