MacDONALD, Maynard Allen, 84, East Green Harbour, passed away peacefully in Roseway Hospital on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Born in St. Catherine’s River he was a son of the late Walter and Martha (Leslie) MacDonald. Maynard was a fisherman all his life, having fished on both the East and West Coast of Canada and up to Alaska. He loved to share his fishing stories especially his trips to Alaska. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Lockeport and enjoyed his many years of singing in various choirs. He is survived by son, Walter (Noreen), Mersey Point; daughters, Mary (Chris) Collishaw, Lockeport; Ellen (David) Suttle, East Green Harbour; Alfreda (Jerry) Malone, Truro; many grandchildren and great grand-children and was considered a special “Grampie” to many others; sister, Edna Drake; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Gladys (Hagar); brothers, Weldon and Gordon; sisters, Esther, Lorena, Vivian and Thelma. Visitation will be Friday, December 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., in St. Andrews United Church, Lockeport with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Interment in Rockland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Lockeport First Responders or St. Andrews United Church.
