It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother Arnold W. Henderson, 79, resident of Sydney River, on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Colchester County, he was a son of the late Percy and Bertha Henderson.
Arnold was a well known carpenter, cabinet maker and contractor building many homes in the area. He was a member of the St. John United Church, Big Bras d’Or.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie (MacLennan) Henderson; daughters, Wendy (Richard) Barnes, Hillside Boularderie, Rev. Karen Henderson, Burlington, Ont., Heather (David) Leblanc, Calgary; five grandchildren, Tracy, Cory, Angela, Leanne and Marci; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ivan (Linda) Henderson, Sydney, Roy (Sandra) Henderson, St. Thomas, Ont.
Arnold was predeceased by his sisters, Marjorie Ward and Shirley Langille.
Visitation for Arnold will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Cremation to follow, and burial at St. James Cemetery, Big Bras d’Or at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Animal Humane Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
