With heavy hearts we the family of the late Ronald MacIntyre, our father, our grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend announce his sudden passing at the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney, C.B., on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012.
Ronald was born and raised in Florence, he was the son of the late Norman (Diddy) and Eva (nee Boutilier) MacIntyre.
He was a member of St. Pius X Church. Ronald was a coal miner for over 30 years and worked at a number of different mines over the Cape Breton area. He also was a tour guide for the old Princess Colliery in Sydney Mines. Ronald retired from the Cape Breton Development Corporation in 1990 and stayed active in the coal industry. Ronald was an active member of the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club where he enjoyed many years of laughter and fellowship with new and old friends. Ronnie was also a member of the Cape Breton North Progressive Conservative Association.
For those who knew Ronnie knew the special love he had for his buddy and best friend ‘Lucky Dog.’ Over the years Ronnie had a passion for antique cars and his recent prize possession was his 1927 Model T, which he took great pride in.
Ronnie is survived by a large loving family that will miss him dearly, daughters, Mary (Brad Cormier), Diane (Art MacDonald), Valerie (Clarence Gerrow), Yvette Silver, all of Sydney Mines, Also surviving are sons, Russie and Ronnie, both from Calgary, Alta. Also adored by loving grandchildren, Steven, Kyle, Kaper, Amanda, Michael, April Dawn, Thomas, Savannah, Lindsay, Rosemary and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Anthony and Gracie Leah who always put a smile on Poppies face. Ronald is also survived by sisters, Isabene (Vincent Legatto), Margaret Boulter, Mary Gardiner, Lesina (Alex Edwards), brothers, Thomas (Thelma), Melvin (Laurena) and Ricky, all of Sydney Mines.
Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth (Cox) of 30 years and also by sisters, Helena, Leona, Catherina (Kay), Naomi, Lillian, and Geraldine, brothers, Danny and Phillip.
Visitation for the late Ronnie MacIntyre will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, at 2 p.m. in St. Pius X Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating, with to burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
