Viola Gamage (nee Forward) Pinsent

Date de décès : 24 décembre 2012

Stephenville, NL
December 15, 1922 - December 24, 2012
While rejoicing in her long, healthy, and active life, we are also deeply saddened at the ending of her inspiring journey. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the youngest of eight children born to the late William Forward and Levenia (Peddle) Forward of Bristol’s Hope, NL. Viola was predeceased by her husband Scott in 2007 and son Glenn in 1976. She is survived by her son Neil (Judy) and her daughter Judy as well as many nieces and nephews. She moved to Stephenville in 1952 when her husband and his brother, Harold, started Pinsent Const. Company Ltd. Even though she never worked outside the home she loved cooking and baking especially for the United Church Women’s Association and anybody else who needed a fruit cake or cookies. She had a big heart and a quick sense of humour and loved her animals. Viola lived in her own home in Stephenville until her health declined due to dementia. Over the years as her condition worsened she was still able to smile and laugh and remember her friends and family. Right up to the end she always made it to the poles to vote for “Joey” and her Liberals. She always loved her “large” earrings so at 89 years old finally had her ears pierced. The family thanks the staff of the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre for their outstanding compassion and professional care. Relatives and friends may visit the family at the United Church, St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville on Friday, December 28th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church with Reverend Kathryn Eddy officiating. Interment to follow at the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery – United Section. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted. Funeral arrangments have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing. The family guest book or a memorial donation may be made through our website at www.fillatre.ca
