With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our family matriarch May French. May was greeted by the angels in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her husband Frederick French; son Neil; daughter Joanne (Gamberg); parents: John and Johanna Mclean; brothers: David and Raymond. She will be sadly missed by her children: Debbie Hickey (Keith), Cambridge, Ont., Garry, Bell Island, Wanda Dwyer (Steve), Cambridge, Wally (Bonnie), Bell Island, Maurice (Bonita), Cambridge, Charmaine Vanderwelle (Willy), Ayr, Ont., Raymond (Sandra), Cambridge, Darrin (Tina), Cambridge; son-in-law Gerard Gamberg, Bell Island; brother Bill Mclean, St. John’s and sister Bunny Gunn, Cambridge. May was a devoted grandmother of 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. May will be fondly missed by many other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements to take place at Pendergast’s Funeral Home, Bell Island, on Sunday, December 30, from 7 - 9 pm and Monday and Tuesday from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral mass on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at St. Michael’s Parish, Bell Island at 2:00 pm. May left a long legacy of music, she loved to entertain both young and old, which will be kept in our hearts forever. Flowers greatly accepted or donations to the Bell Island Breast Cancer Awareness Group.
