Fraser’s Mountain, NS - Clarence Edward Anderson, 69, passed away on Saturday, December 29, in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Mary Anderson and Clarence MacLeod of Trenton.
He began work as a welder at Trenton Works at age 17, and worked there until his retirement in 2005. Clarence was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34 and volunteered with the New Glasgow Meals on Wheels program. Clarence was an avid carpenter and loved the sanctuary of his garage. One of his pleasures was inviting friends out to the garage for a pint of home brew and a chat. He enjoyed fishing with his fishing buddies, chatting with the Tim Horton's crew and loved to spend time with his family on the Mountain. His love and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy (MacDonnell); daughter, Kristi; son, Craig; cousin, Joe Anderson; sister-in-law, Kathy (Myron) Marshall; sister-in-law, Margie (Harold) Purdy; brother-in-law, David MacDonnell; sister-in-law, Barbara MacDonnell; aunt, Theresa MacDonnell; his three favourite nieces: Susanne (Brad) Aucoin; Morgan Purdy (Andy LeBlanc); Lauren Purdy; his special grand nephew Dallas Aucoin and his chosen brother, Fraser (Yvette) Fancy; nephew Ian Fancy and godchild Brigette Fancy. Besides his parents and uncles, he was predeceased by brother-in-law Jim Mac Donnell.
The Anderson family would like to say a sincere thank you to the staff at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, especially Dr. Farrell; Dr. Gregor MacLean; the VON; Father Gary MacPherson and our family for their love and support throughout Clarence's illness.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 2 from 2:30 - 4:30 pm and 7 – 9 pm at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, New Glasgow at 11 am on Thursday, January 3, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Clarence's memory may be made to The Lodge That Gives, Halifax, or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, New Glasgow. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
