Bob Holmes was born in Ottawa on September 9, 1922 and passed away in Regina after a brief hospital stay on December 28, 2012. For 90 years he lived life on his own terms and his passing was no different. Bob will be missed greatly by his loving wife of 67 years, Florence; their four children, Jack (Marina) in Perth/AU, Brenda Powell (Earl, dec.) in Calgary, Don (Maureen) in Regina, and Gordon (Ann) in Prince George; seven grandchildren, Jennie (Elliott), Kim (Cam), Jackie, Jessica (Brad), Craig, Kayla, and Jack; and four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Mia, Imogen, and Emily. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Claire; sister Marg (Chick); brother Jack (Betty); and numerous Johnstone in-laws. After serving in World War II as a Naval Officer, Bob came home to Moose Jaw to marry his sweetheart. He worked for 42 years at the CPR, and in retirement, he enjoyed his days and always kept busy. He will be remembered for his unwavering love and appreciation of family, his daily breakfast of bacon and eggs, his passion for the cottage, constant puttering, and his unfailing support of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
