STEINLEY, Elsie Irene, age 86, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Herbert Integrated Healthcare Facility. Elsie will be greatly missed by her three children, Darlene and Don of AB, Larry of SK, Lorraine and Larry of ON; her nine grandchildren; her eleven great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Lawrence (Lillian) Feil; her sisters, Marg (Redge) Lopeter, Marilyn (Ken) Leier, sisters-in-law, June Feil, all of Swift Current, and Irene Feil of Creston; and many nieces, nephews and friends who also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Elmer Roy (December 19, 2003); a sister; Emma Ruf, two brothers; Wilfred and Roy Feil, numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and by a niece. Elsie was born on December 27, 1925, in Beaver Flat, SK to Fred and Martha Feil. She was baptized and confirmed at the Peace Lutheran Church where she also was married on July 14, 1946, to Elmer Roy Steinley. They farmed at Prairie View until they retired and moved into Swift Current in December of 1980. Elsie loved gardening and cooking. She made beautiful quilts and bedspreads, all hand-stitched. She also helped at the church, working with various projects. She greatly enjoyed playing “Ludu” with many of her friends. Elsie loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a lot of laughs and fun with them. She received excellent care at Herbert and certainly spent her last days in comfort and contentment. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK, with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist for the service was Arlie Neufeld with special music brought by Kathy and Rudolf Gartz. Scripture readings were read from Psalm 121 and John 14:1-6. “Blest Be the Tie That Binds”, “When Peace Like a River”, “Jesus Loves Me” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” were sung by the congregation. The obituary was brought by Howard Steinley with memories shared by Larry Gielen and by Janice Thoreson. The ushers in the church were Sean Lopeter and Jim Feil. Honorary Pallbearers were Garett Steinley, Leann Hildebrand, Nadine Lindsay, Jeremy Gielen and Alyssa Gielen. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Lance Rempel, Jeff Rempel, Kelly Rempel, Clayton Steinley, Peter Hildebrand and Brendan Lindsay. In memory of Elsie Steinley, donations made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or to the St. Olaf Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
