RIVERTON – Barbara Marion “Barb” Brignell, 83, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow and Ottawa, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the Villa.
Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Hubert “Jiggy” Stanley and Marion Grace (Wight) Miller. While growing up in Lunenburg, she and her two sisters were well-known throughout the province as the “The Miller Sisters”. She lived most of her life in Ottawa, moving to New Glasgow in 2009. Barb had been employed with the Royal Bank for 42 years, having begun her employment while completing her Grade 12. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, singing and drama.
Surviving are her sister, Joan (Ronald) Crouse, Brampton, Ont.; nieces, Annette (Roy) Tree, New Glasgow; Marilyn Dauphinee (Eric Allen), New Minas; Elizabeth “Beth” (Glen) Hill, Flesherton, Ont.; Angela (Andy) Amalfitano, Oakville, Ont.; nephews, Peter Crouse (Donna), Mississauga, Ont.; Tim (Shelley) Dauphinee, Halifax; brother-in-law, William “Bill” (Dee) Dauphinee, Lunenburg; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward David “Ted” Brignell; sister, Marilyn (Miller) Dauphinee.
A graveside service will be held in Lunenburg at a later date.
