JOHN KRAUSHAR

JOHN KRAUSHAR JOHN KRAUSHAR

Lieu de naissance : Kelowna, Colombie Britannique, Canada

Date de décès : 3 janvier 2013

John Kraushar, born in Kelowna, B.C. passed away quite suddenly on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the age of 89.

John is survived by Connie, his wife of 66 years; daughter Lynne of Kamloops and son Kim of Kamloops; granddaughter Alyssa (Niel) Stewart of Vancouver, great grandchildren Ian and Lauren; and one sister Betty Gautier of Surrey.

John grew up in a family with seven siblings in Kelowna. As a young man he worked with his dad logging, then served in the Army during World War 2. He met Connie while in the Army. They married and spent some time in Kelowna, then Edmonton where he worked for the Canadian National Railway for a few years and then transferred to Kamloops. He spent 21 years working for the B.C. Correctional Service until his retirement in 1983.

In Kamloops, the family settled into a wonderful neighborhood where many of the neighbors became close friends and travel companions, exploring Canada, the USA, the Baja and Mexico. Dad loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, a pastime he shared with some very special friends over the years. After retirement mom and dad spent many winters in the Baja where he spent a lot of time fishing, but is remembered for landing a 100lb. Marlin from his little aluminum boat.

Travelling with neighbors, a 'Happy Hour' tradition was started following the set up of the RVs. That 'Happy Hour' tradition was carried on for the next 40 years from their home and the homes of other in their neighborhood every Friday.

Dad loved to give a helping hand. He was the go-to person for fix it help. At age 68 he explored ginseng farming with his family, planting three acres on property he owned on North Shuswap Road. We all worked hard, but he worked the hardest and longest of us all. It was quite an adventure.

His family was very important to him, and he took good care of us. He loved a good (and often loud) debate, and there were many around the kitchen table with friends and family.

Dad also loved his backyard, and his garden. He soaked up the spring sunshine from his lounge, looking like he had been south all winter. A good friend shared some excellent garlic with him, and that became his specialty.

The family would like to send special thanks to the B.C. Ambulance paramedics who responded; and the nurses and Dr. Ravi Sunder at RIH who treated dad with care and respect.

There will be a Memorial Service when the highways are free of snow.
