Passed peacefully away at The Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, January 12, 2013, Maxwell George Janes in his 91st year. Predeceased by his mother Blanche (nee Pardy); father Francis Janes; brother Francis (Frank) and sister Phyllis. Leaving to mourn his wife of 66 years Hazel (nee Pauls) of St. John’s; daughters: Phyllis (Len Beresford) of St. John’s, and Elizabeth (Steven Prince) of Victoria, BC; grandchildren: Marc Beresford (Jennifer), Shawn Beresford (Ashley Sheppard) and Alicia Beresford all of St. John’s and Matthew Prince of Toronto; great-granddaughter Nicole Beresford (Randall King) of St. John’s; sister-in-law Mary Janes and nieces: Carolyn and Susan Janes of St. John’s; also other family and friends. Former owner of The London New York & Paris Assn of Fashion Ltd., Past Commodore of the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club, Past Member of St. John’s Rotary Club, Lodge St. Andrew of the Masonic Order and The Mazol Shrine. He was an avid sailor whose proudest accomplishment was sailing his boat from England to the Azores and then on to the RNYC, Conception Bay. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and then on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
