REDDEN, Brian Aubrey – 64, of Windsor. It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Aubrey Redden announces the passing of a beloved husband, father and grandfather after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born on September 27, 1948, in Windsor, Brian was the youngest son of Pauline (Sweet) Redden of the Windsor Elms Village, and the late Roy Aubrey Redden. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Pamela (Nauss); his son, Ryan (Krystal), Grande Prairie, Alta.; granddaughter, Cailin; grandson, Carter; his mother, Pauline; sister, Julia (Patrick) Dooley, Windsor; brother, Richard (Barbara), Windsor; father-in-law, Frank Nauss, Bridgewater; mother-in-law, Bev Nauss, Halifax; sister-in-law, Kathy Fraser (Monty), Timberlea; brother-in-law, Chris Nauss, Halifax and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his father, Roy Aubrey Redden in 2005. Brian spent most of his career in sales and for the past thirty years, Brian was employed in the automobile industry. He worked at dealerships throughout the HRM and the Valley, most recently at Armstrong’s Auto Sales. Brian was an avid sportsman, playing a variety of sports. A gifted hockey player, Brian played competitive provincial hockey at all levels, and was a member of the 1966 Halifax Junior Canadians, and the Oshawa Generals, the farm team for the Boston Bruins. He also played Senior Hockey in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. He coached the Windsor Schooners to a provincial senior championship, as well as a high school hockey coach. Brian was recognized for his contribution to the sport and his community in 2002, by being inducted into the Birthplace of Hockey Hall of Fame. Brian was also a graduate of Kings College School (KCS), Windsor. Brian loved horses and competed successfully for many years in the Maritime Barrel Racing circuit. Brian loved to travel, whether it was to visit his son Ryan in Alberta, south in the winter, or hopping in the car with Pam to explore. He especially enjoyed weekends away at the farm in Bridgewater. Brian’s family would like to thank Bev Lyttle, Dr. Ken Johnson, Dr. Cathryn Smith, Dr. Tim Matheson, family physician, Dr. Mark Kazimirski and the nurses at the Hants Community Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Monday, January 14, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in the Windsor United Church, 613 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. A private family interment was held in the Maplewood Cemetery, King Street, Windsor. A reception followed in the Windsor United Church Annex. Family flowers only.
