BISHOP, Verna Betty – On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, Verna Betty (Roze) Bishop of Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully at the age of 75. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Danine (Terry) Lapinski, Edmonton, AB; Cameron Bishop, Vancouver, BC; Aaron Bishop, St. John’s, NL, and her six grandchildren, Ryan and Danny Roberts, April, Nicole, Gordon and Cameron (Jr.) Bishop. Sisters, Prudence (Jerry) Muise and Amelia (Ervin) Olsen, Yarmouth; brothers, Foster (Gloria) Roze, Victoria, BC; Garnet (Karen) Roze, Yarmouth; Blair (Doris) Roze, Fredericton, NB; Jack (Penny) Roze, Prince George, BC; Brian (Irene) Roze, Kensington, NH; Christopher Roze, Prince George, BC, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Verna was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; parents, Arthur and Hilda (Organ) Roze; a brother, Job Eric Roze; a sister, Sherrae (Wilfred) Maillet and sisters-in-law, Marie Jean Roze and Mary Ann Roze. Verna served as a Salvation Army Officer prior to her marriage, other employment during her life included Recreational Director at a nursing home in Perth, Ontario, and working at Walmart in Gander, NL. She enjoyed many activities and crafts, especially leather-working and sharing her computer knowledge. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth, with a memorial service being held in the spring. Donations in Verna’s memory may be made to the Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac Foundation, The Salvation Army or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Julie Chandler, Dr. Natalie Horton, Candace Bain, The Sisters and the staff at the Villa for providing such good care of Verna while her health declined.
