It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Ann (Murray) Kiley on January 16, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney on July 29, 1950, Carol Ann was the daughter of the late Patrick and Etta (Horne) Murray, Grand Lake Rd., Sydney.
Carol Ann was a graduate of both the Cape Breton School of Business and Compu College. She was later employed with H&R Block in Sydney. In her earlier years, Carol Ann was involved with the Society of Deaf and Hard of Hearing. She also enjoyed sharing her time with the South Bar 4H Club. Carol Ann was a loving mother and sister. She valued getting together with family. She loved reading, dancing, laughter, music and watching the game shows. Carol Ann was a loyal confidante and the salt of the earth.
Carol Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Harvey Kiley; sons, Troy (Zoey), Ontario, and Harvey, Sydney, and a daughter, Kimberly (Jeff) Legge, Sydney. She is also survived by brothers, Thomas (Claudette), Westmount, Donnie, Grandlake Road, Robert, Mira, Patrick (Bernadette), Coxheath; sister, Emily (Robert) Otterson, Onslow Mountain, NS, and grandchildren, Derek, Shelby, Zarah, and Ashlyn.
Besides her parents, Carol Ann was predeceased by her sister, Mary Murray in 1983.
The family would like to thank the homecare workers, Dr. Paul Murphy, nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kindness and care shown to Carol Ann.
Visitation for the late Carol Ann Kiley will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Alex MacLellan officiating. Reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Carol Ann may be made to a charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
