FINDLEY, KENNETH - It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Kenneth Francis Findley of Plaster Rock, NB at the Hotel Dieu St. Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, NB on January 18, 2013, at the age of 82. Ken was born in Halifax, NS on September 6, 1930. He was the son of the late Mary Fleet (Findley). He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marjorie "Marnie" Findley (O'Leary); his six children Charlotte Hartley (Lawrence) of Weldon, NB,Terrance "Terry" Findley of Canmore, AB; Zane Findley (Ellen) of Cape Sable Island, NS, Susan McElveny (Late Ned) of Enterprise, NB, Virginia "Ginni" Hanson (Earl) of Plaster Rock, Shawna DeMerchant (Robin) of Plaster Rock; his brother Gerald Fleet (Deloris) of London, ON; his 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother and his brother Jack Fleet (Donalda) of Trenton, ON. Ken worked for CNR for over 42 years and retired as a Signal Maintainer in Plaster Rock, NB. Ken loved life to the fullest. His love for his family and friends was constantly demonstrated through his kind acts of kindness, compassion and generosity. He had a passion for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, curling, and gardening. He was an avid card player and enjoyed his Irish music and his music friends. He was a former member of the village council, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His exuberant voice earned him the title of "Town Crier".
In accordance with Ken's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service held. The family invites you to a time of celebration and sharing of Ken's life at the home of his daughter, Shawna DeMerchant, 24 Hemingway Avenue, Plaster Rock, NB on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 2 to 5 pm. We welcome your stories and memories. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock.
