Annie Morin

Annie (Nicholson) Morin (1915-2013) passed away in Kingston, Ont. on Jan. 8, 2013. She was the eldest daughter of Daniel Joseph and Christina (McInnis) Nicholson of McKay’s Corner, Glace Bay.
During her long life despite losing two husbands (the first Elias Smith of Reserve, in the Second World War), and her three daughters, she never lost her ready smile and quick wit.
Annie worked in McKay’s Corner at Carroll’s store and following that in Glace Bay at TN Carroll’s. She married Walter Morin in 1951 and moved to Ottawa, she did considerable travelling across the country anywhere his work took him. Following Walter’s death Annie took a job at Canadian Tire in Ottawa where she worked until company policy prohibited working after the age of 80. Annie then volunteered at the Grace Maternity Hospital on the information desk. She was well loved by visitors and staff alike and worked there until the hospital closed in 1999 when she was 84.
Besides her parents Annie was predeceased by husbands, Elias Smith and Walter Morin; her three daughters, Ruth, Ruby and Caroline; grandchildren, Diane and Joanne; sister, Mae, Toronto; brothers, Jimmie, Reserve Mines, Harold and Arthur, Toronto, Roddie, Ajax, Ont., Dan, Georgetown, Ont. and seven nieces and nephews. She is survived by her granddaughter and best friend, Kim Milks, and grandsons, Ken Milks, Michael Rading, and Paul Robillard; sisters, Rita McIntyre, Regina, Eleanor Currie, Stratford, P.E.I. and Shirley Nicholson, Cape George, N.S. and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Annie has been cremated, a memorial mass will be held at a later date.
