Margaret 'Margie' Pakai

Margaret 'Margie' Pakai

Date de décès : 20 janvier 2013

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Margaret, beloved sister, aunt and best friend. Margie passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 20, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, An Cale Palliative Care Unit.
Margie was born in 1925, the daughter of the late Veronica (Fuse) and James Pakai.
A devoted member of St. Theresa's parish, she was a woman of great faith and loved her God and religion. Margie was born and raised in Sydney. She lived most of her life in Sydney except for the short time she moved to Ontario to work in a munitions factory to assist with the war effort - 'A Bomb Girl'.
Margie's career was with retail sales, working in several stores on Charlotte Street and later was employed by K-Mart in the shoe department. She later became manager and remained there until her retirement after over 30 years. She enjoyed working and had a strong work ethic.
Margie was a very social person who loved people and enjoyed talking. She loved to travel, having made trips overseas, across Canada and USA. Her favorite destination was always Las Vegas.
She loved her home and enjoyed preparing a big meal for the family, especially on Christmas Eve. She loved gardening, knitting and crocheting; she was never idle.
Margie was predeceased by her brothers, Stephen, James and Joseph, by her sisters, Veronica (in infancy), Mary (John) Briand and Donna (Jim) Clark.
She is survived by her sister, Helen (Steve) Siller, Sydney; by many special nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and treated as her own.
Margie never missed a family function and was so proud of them all. She probably baby sat for most of them; the memories that were formed during her life time are like a story book and give us strength as we move forward without her.
The family would like to extend a special and sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses and the volunteers of the palliative care unit of the C.B. Regional Hospital. The care, comfort and support they extended to us will never be forgotten, they were our 'special angels'.
Donations in Margie's memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Diabetes Society or charity of one's choice.
Visitation for the late Margaret Pakai will take place from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 24. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating with interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Online condolences to www.twcurry.com.
Rest in peace Margie, you will always be loved and remembered.
