God could not have made a more loving and perfect wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty” MacDonald, age 65, of Dominion passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital, with her loving family surrounding her.
Betty will be together again with her loving son, Leonard whom she loved and missed so much.
Born in Glace Bay, Betty was the daughter of the late Roddie and Agatha (Kelly) McNeil.
She had a very special place in her heart for the Dominion fire hall and enjoyed volunteering. Her love of animals was unending. Betty was an avid bingo player.
She always said, “When I am dead and gone, you can always say I made you laugh!” and laugh she did. We will miss her dearly.
Betty will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 44 years, Junior; daughters, Tara (Jonathan) McPherson, New Waterford, Danielle MacDonald (Jeff), at home; sons, Shannon (Lesley), Glace Bay, Angus (Ashley), at home; five cherished grandchildren; brother, Roddie (Darlene) McNeil, Gardiner Mines; brother-in-law, Angus (Judy) MacDonald, Dominion.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, loving son, Leonard, mother and father-in-law, Angus and Mary MacDonald, who held her in high regards.
Visitation for Betty MacDonald will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Cremation will take place and interment at a later date with her loving son, Leonard in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Betty's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
