Cecil Wile

WILE, Cecil Deal - 90, Middleton, NS passed away peacefully on January 16, 2013. Born in Mount Denson, N.S. on July 20, 1922, he was a son of the late Willard and Bessie (Deal) Wile. Cecil was an avid gardener and well known exhibitor of vegetables. Cecil joined the R.C.A.F. as an aero-engine mechanic in 1941 and served as an air gunner during WWII from 1943 - 1945. Following his war service he left the Force and co- founded the Panuke Motor Company Ltd with brothers Lawrence and Fred. Cecil re-enlisted in 1949 and retired from the R.C.A.F. in 1972 earning numerous awards throughout his service including the Europe Star, France and Germany Clasps, Defense Medal, Canadian Volunteer War Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration. He was an active member of Middleton Baptist Church serving at various times as trustee, deacon and usher. He was a life member of the Wilmot Garden Club and shared the N.S.A.G.C. gardener of the year award along with his wife (Grace) in 1984. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch 98. He married Rowena (Grace) Illsley in 1953. He is survived by daughters Linda (John) Lunney, Carringbah, N.S.W. Australia; Deborah Churchill, Amherst; Susan (John) Murray, Valley; Shelley (Perry) Marriott, Windsor Junction; sons, Gregory (Lynda) Wile, Auburn; Stephen (Annie) Wile, Fort St. John, B.C.; grandchildren Mark (Emma) Lunney, Australia and Paul Lunney, Australia; Vanessa (John Todd) Ferris, Edmonton; Lewis (Danica) Churchill, Edmonton; Amanda Wile, Langdon, AB; Michelle (Aaron) LeBlanc, Torbrook; Adam Wile, Conception Bay, NL; Timothy Wile, Kingston; Jennifer Wile, Wilmot; Melissa Murray, Kitchener, Ont.; Peter Murray, Halifax, Kristen Marriott, Vancouver, BC and Hunter Marriott, Windsor Junction; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Lola Wile, Comox B.C.; brother-in-law Charles (Mildred) Illsley, Falmouth and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Grace (Illsley); sisters, Pearl Crosby, Mabel Olgilvie and brothers, Aubrey Wile and Frederick Wile and twin brother Lawrence Wile. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 31st, 2013 in the Middleton Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Smith and Rev. Deacon Don Boudreau officiating, beginning with a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute conducted by Kingston Branch No. 98. Interment will be in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Falmouth. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Middleton Baptist Church, Valley Regional Hospital, Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society, V.O.N., Fidelis House or a charity of choice. Cecil had been lovingly cared for by the staff at the Veteran’s Unit, Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for the past five years. His family would like to extend to each and every one of them our heartfelt thanks for the excellent care, respect and kindness he received during his years in your care.
