Sterling Peter Buchanan, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2013, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Inverness, N.S.
Born in Fredericton, P.E.I., on September 13, 1936, son of the late Peter and Maria (Gamester) Buchanan. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 51 years Eileen (Weir) Buchanan, Port Hood. Father of Peter and David Buchanan, Port Hood, and Heather (Harold) Stright, Murray Corner, N.B. Loving grandfather to Reita, Travis, Adam and Steven Stright and great-grandchild Brayden Stright. Brother to Mary (late Roy) Smith, South Granville; Mae (late Herb) Ward, North Granville; and Eric (Elizabeth) Buchanan, South Granville; and many sisters and brothers-in-law. Remembered by nephew Mark (Kristina) Weir, Truro, N.S.; and Donna (Joey) MacDonald, Port Hood, N.S., and their families. As well as a caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Georgie (Gerald) Smith and Margaret Buchanan; and brothers, Stanley and Murdock Buchanan.
Visitation will be held in Port Hood Resting Place on Sunday, January 27, from 7-9 p.m., then transferred to the Davison Funeral Home, Kensington, for visitation on Tuesday, January 29, from 2-4 p.m., with burial to take place in the Fredericton Cemetery immediately following.
If so desired, contributions may be made to the Fredericton Cemetery.
