Gerald Irvine “Jack” passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2013 after a brief illness. Jack was born to John and Marcella Riddell of Davis, SK. on December 25th, 1933 and was schooled in Davis and Prince Albert. He was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother; Uncles Charlie and Bert (Edna) Riddell, Calvin, Harvey and Norman Stanley. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Isobell Pearl (Diz); daughters Debbie (Glen) Wolkowski, Wendy Dods (Jim Bailly); sons Robert John “Jack” Riddell (Merlin Young) and James Riddell; Granddaughters Lindsay, Ashlee (Mike), Kelsey, Karen, Vicki, Mara and Michelle; five great grandchildren; Sisters Betty Inkster, Maureen (Al) Sommerfeld; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jack worked for SGI for a number of years setting up agencies across southern Saskatchewan until he opened his own in Moose Jaw where he sold general and hail insurance. He also worked in sales until he retired and even well after. He loved travelling and knew someone in almost every town he visited in southern Saskatchewan. Jack loved sports and played in the Prince Albert District Fastball League, coached minor league ball in Moose Jaw, was a big fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Moose Jaw Canucks and Warriors. He loved golf, track, curling and horse racing as well. He loved playing cribbage, at first one on one, and later online. He was a member of the Legion, Masons and a 50 year member of the Elks Club. The family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to Moose Jaw EMS, the Union Hospital Emergency Staff, the staff of the Medical unit, Dr. Geyer and also Moose Jaw Funeral Home. There will be No Funeral Service at this time, but a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. At this time, the family gratefully declines flowers but donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, Sk., S6H 2M2 in Jack’s name will be gratefully accepted.
