It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Roberta Elizabeth Jordan on Jan. 27, 2013 at the Palliative Care An Cala Unit after a very courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Reserve, the youngest daughter of the late John William ‘Bud’ and Stella MacLeod. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Edgar Jordan in 1986.
She was very active in the community as a lifetime member of the Coxheath chapter of the I.O.D.E, she was also a member of the Order of The Royal Purple B.P.O.E. Elks and the UCW Sydney River United Protestant Church.
Mom will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted mother who always put her children’s needs and care above anything else. Family was very important to her even during her illness, she would worry and ask how everyone was doing.
Roberta is survived by daughters, Louise (Mike) Gardiner, Glace Bay, Nancy, Sydney River, Michelle (Kirby) Barrington, Sydney; sons, Winston (Cheryl), Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ron (Kathy Martell), Coxheath, Kevin (Peggy), Riverview, N.B.; Eldon, Sydney, and Bill, Alberta. Also surviving is her brother Clifford (Phyllis), Glace Bay; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, by request there will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held on Thursday Jan. 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St. Sydney, with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, Patient Care Fund, or the Palliative Care An Cala Unit.
