Mom was born in Armdale, Hfx.Co. June 7th, 1922. She married and had a large family. Mom trained for nursing at the Yarmouth General Hospital and met dad in Shelburne -love at first sight!
Mom was loved by everyone, she made people laugh. Mom helped the needy, through her nursing and her humanitarian connections (Red Cross, world vision, Care Canada, Covenant house, and Peta). Her hobbies were plenty, (stamp and coin collecting, camping, hiking in the woods and beach, prospecting and bird watching). Mom was Religious and was a Christian. She lived her life happily and simply and with daily prayer. She deeply believed in God. This was expressed daily through her love.
As a mom, she was the best! She was always fun! She made us laugh and gave us many special gifts of herself -Honesty, creativity, love of nature &Love of God & to live by the golden rule. Humour and love she had abundance, she loved us all, Husband, (Walter), Children, (Michael, James, Bruce, Philip, Susan, Paul and Stephen) and their partners,(Janice, Debbie, Glenda, Julie. She was mama to many of our friends growing up. Marion loved her grandchildren dearly, Michael, Jason, Joshua, and step grandchildren, Jeremy and Chrystal. Mom loved her extended family in Halifax and her Nieces and Nephews (Elaine, Carolyn, Lori, Richard, Linda, David, Doug, Tom and Colleen)., and their families. She also had many great nieces and nephews whom she cherished.
Mom has one special sister in law, Aunt Helen Dickie, (Boiduk)- husband Robert Dickie and family,( Chris, John, Stewart, Anne) and their families. As you can see, family made Moms life.
Marion worked as a nurse both at the Highland View Hospital, and the VON, She enjoyed her work and helped many people. She was very proud to be a nurse and spoke fondly of her colleagues and of her experiences.
Mom and Dad liked to camp and travel in the Maritimes and prospecting: which they enjoyed with close friends (Lou &Terry). Mom enjoyed reading, playing her organ and harmonica and signing funny ditties. She enjoyed helping others and being interested in everything around her.
Mom lived life with gusto! She loved to live and lived to love. Mom was special - one of a kind, truly unique and non-replaceable.
We will miss her everyday but will keep her in our hearts and souls!
We love you Mom, May you be at peace! Love your family. Butterfly Kisses! See you in Heaven.
