Daniel  Walker

Daniel John Walker, 77 of Amherst passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday Jan 29th, 2013. Son of the late Albert & Margaret (Barnaby) Walker, he was predeceased by his loving wife Donna (Brownell), and siblings Margaret, Marion, Georgina, David and Bill.
Dan is survived by three loving children; Gwen Walker, Kenneth (Sue) Walker, Daniel Jr. Walker all of Amherst, and siblings Winston, Arthur, Barbara, Marjorie, and Libby. He was also proud grandfather to Brandon, Connon, and Sam. And his little dog Teyka was the love of his life.
Dan was proud of his Mi’kmaq heritage, and proudly served in the Navy, as an Airborne in the Army, and with the NATO forces. He worked for many years at the Elm Tree Tavern before opening his own business, Ed’s Submarine. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and especially riding his motorcycle. He loved fast cars.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church Amherst with the Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. A time of visitation and refreshments will follow the service. Memorial donations can be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
Interment will take place in the Pinegrove Cemetery, Oxford.
