Tom Benson passed peacefully away at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in the presence of his loving family on February 4, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth and father, Edward, and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Violet (nee Churchill), his children: Austin (Evelyn), Lorne (Diane), Inez Durant (Russ), Eldon (Cynthia) and Calvin; his grandchildren: Natalie Goodyear (Dion), Stephanie Freire (Humberto), Pamela Balsom (Mark), Paula Drover (Rocky), Paul Benson (Mela), Kimberley Kieley (Roddie), Peter Durant (Pilar Iglesias), Jill Tucker (Sheldon), Nancy Harkness (Stuart), Foster and Jordan; great-grandchildren: Tom Goodyear, Ana Freire, Charlotte Freire, Alexandria Balsom, Ashley Balsom, Avery Balsom, Chase Drover, Keegan Benson, Khloe Benson, Emma Tucker, Evan Tucker, Braden Harkness and Jacob Harkness; his sister Blanche Mercer (nee Barfett) as well as a large number of family and friends. Resting at Fewer’s Funeral Home, Clarenville, from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013; 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013; and resting at St. Michael and All Angels, Hillview ,from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 and
10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Funeral at St. Michael and All Angels, Hillview at 2:00 p.m. Donations in Tom’s memory can be made to the St. Michael and All Angels Building Fund. Flowers graciously accepted.
