The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, of John Wayne Ramsay of Summerside and formerly of Northport, aged 63 years. John was born on April 24, 1949, in McAdam, N.B., to his late parents Amos and Margaret (nee Cahill) Ramsay. Beloved husband of Una Poirier and loving father of Wayne (Melissa) and Joleen all of Charlottetown, Jason of Foxley River and Jeremy Greencorn (Holly Laverty) of Cornwall. Also lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Peggy Young, Ken (Vivian), Eunice (George) Wall, Helen (Preston) Murphy, Brenda Simmons, Ann Ramsay, Claude (Sharon), Eleanor (Ray) Wakelin, Vicki (Mike) Henwood, Barb (John) Stewart, Marilyn Olson and Pauline Gallant (Allison). Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his son J.J. Gallant, his granddaughter Rylin Ramsay and brothers Amy and Roy. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Friday, Feb. 8, then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche, for funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations in John’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
