David Francis Murrant

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Murrant, age 76, of Reserve Mines. David passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, David was the son of the late Parker and Cecelia (Ryan) Murrant.
David was a mechanic by trade and worked at many garages in Glace Bay and Sydney. He also operated his own garage until his retirement.
David enjoyed his outings in their RV visiting numerous areas and meeting people. In particular, he and Lyn would go to Dominion beach where they made many friends and walked their dog, Sandy.
David will be sadly missed by his companion of 30 years, Lyn Wadman; brother, Burt, nephew, Donnie (Cathy) Murrant, Glace Bay, niece, Linda (Perry) McNeil, Halifax. Also surviving are grandnieces, Kyla and Kelsie McNeil, Halifax.
Besides his parents, David was predeceased by a brother, Daniel, one in infancy and a nephew, Parker.
There will be no visitation for David. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Port Caledonia, at a later date.
