It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister Theresa Elizabeth Bona, 65, on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, Theresa was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marjorie (Penny) Bona.
Theresa loved life and everyone she met. She was a kind person, loved to clean and enjoyed conversations with anyone around her and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Theresa is survived by sisters, Susan (David) Lemoine, Ontario, Marie (Brian) Hardy, North Sydney; brothers, Floyd Bona (Bonnie) and Lloyd Bona, both of North Sydney; also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by an infant sister, Alice Marie, her paternal and maternal grandparents, a number of aunts and uncles, including a special aunt Alice Penny.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, Northside General Hospital, the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and especially to Dr. Kohlsmith and doctors at the ICU who gave Theresa such excellent care. We are so very grateful to Rhoda ‘Leona’ and Mary who were her longtime friends and very good to her.
Visitation for Theresa will be held 9-11 a.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later time.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
