John 'Jackie' Angus MacArthur
Date de naissance : 4 avril 1942
Date de décès : 9 février 2013
On Feb. 9, 2013, with heavy hearts we bid farewell to our brother, and friend. Jackie was the oldest son of John and Margaret (Gillis) MacArthur.
Formerly of New Waterford and more recently Howie Centre, he lost his short battle with cancer at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
He attended school in New Waterford and Mabou and was retired from Devco.
Loved by all who knew him, Jackie could light up a room with his quick wit and story telling. A gifted square dancer and Scottish music lover, he could often be found in the dance halls in Mabou hanging out with his sisters, on Sundays afternoons in Judique with his many friends. He will also be missed by his many bingo buddies.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, June (MacPherson) MacArthur.
Jackie is survived by his siblings, Betty (John) Farrell, Mass., Anne Marie (Gray) Barry, Westmount, Sandy, Sydney, Hughie (with whom he resided), Howie Centre and his nephew and good pal, Kodey; also his special little friend, Sarah; stepdaughters, Linda (Billy) Graham, Arlene (Jimmy) MacIsaac and her children, Chandra and Brendan. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney today (Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013) from 6-9 p.m. A funeral mass will take place Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Westmount, with Fr. Douglas Murphy officiating.
Donations may be made to the Loaves and Fishes or charity of choice.
The dust from the dancer
Has settled in peace
But tonight with the angels
The dance will not cease….
Anne Marie
