It is with great sadness we the family of Helen Theresa ‘McNeil’ Howatson announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend into the Presence of her Lord and Savior.
Mom was born in Alder Point, June 27, 1922, to the late Peter C. and Sophia (Doucette) McNeil.
The last 17 years mom resided at the home of her granddaughter Darlene and Wayne Brown with the help of daughters Muriel and Annie; she was lovingly cared for.
Our dear mother was predeceased by her husband, Robert, son Cyril, granddaughter, Ann Marie, grandson, Robert, and her sisters, Mary Lou, Monica, Minnie, Rita, Agnes and Hilda.
Left to mourn mom are her children, Annie (George) Reid, Florence, Edison (Agnes), Sydney Mines, Muriel (Gordon) MacDonald, Millville, Shirley (Kevin) O’Driscoll, Labrador City, Pam (Neil) Dandy, Sydney, Tom (Mary) Auccoin, New Waterford, Bobby (Veronica), North Sydney, Linda (George) Fleming, Labrador City, Gordon (Darlene), British Columbia; special daughter, Stella. Granny ‘Nan’ will be sadly missed by her 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Visitation will be held at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines, on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or, Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.
