Darlene Hall

Lieu de naissance : Sydney Mines
Date de naissance : 12 avril 1958

Date de décès : 18 février 2013

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Darlene Hall, age 54, on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Halifax Infirmary. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on April 12, 1958, she was the only daughter of John and Lorraine (Boyd) Burton.
Darlene was always proud of her work at Transition House and believed it was there that she discovered a passion for helping women, which lead her to furthering her career in social work. Darlene obtained a BACS degree from CBU in 1989, a BSW from Dalhousie in 1999 and a MSW from Dalhousie in 2002.
Her strong work ethic and continued care of women taught her daughters kindness and compassion which lead her daughter Melanie into the same profession. The last number of years Darlene has worked as a medical social worker at the Northside General Hospital and has helped countless numbers of people and families.
Darlene took great pride in providing others with love and comfort. She had a special ability to know exactly what to say in a supportive, unassuming manner. Many people relied on Darlene for guidance and support. She was well known for putting the needs of others before her own and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
Not only was she extremely cherished by her husband, daughters, parents and brothers, but also by her aunts Betty and Bev and sister-in-law Mary. Her family was always Darlene’s number one priority.
Darlene loved to laugh and provide comforting meals to her family. She enjoyed summer weekends in Margaree, boating on the Bras d’Or Lake and vacationing somewhere warm in the winter months. She was very happy with her life; she loved her home, enjoyed her job, and spending time with family.
She leaves behind to mourn her loving husband, Donald (Donnie) and her two daughters, Melissa and Melanie; parents, John and Lorraine Burton; and brothers, Derrick (Wendy), Vaughn, Sheldon (Betty), Blair (Georgina) and Glenn (Edna). Also left behind are her aunt, Betty Stewart (Boyd), aunt and godmother, Bev Robin (Boyd); brother-in-law, Edward (Brenda); sister-in-law, Mary; brother-in-law, Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Patrick and Jessie (MacDougall) Hall and special uncle, James Stewart.
Special thanks must be given to the amazing staff at CCU 6.4 and ICU 5.1, Halifax Infirmary, for their kindness and compassion. Darlene would have been very appreciative of their attentive care.
Visitation for Darlene Hall will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Darlene’s memory may be made to the QE II Foundation, Halifax Infirmary ICU 5.1 or Cardiac Care 6.4.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
