Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Tuesday, February 19th, 2013, Michael John McNiven, aged 66 years. Predeceased by his father and mother, Harold and Blanche McNiven, brother Val McNiven and mother and father-in-law George and Florence Chapter. Left to mourn his loving wife of 42 years Elizabeth (nee Chapter); loving daughter Andrea (Ryan Oliver); sisters: Helen, Paula (Bill Rees) and Barbara; brothers: Bro P.P. McNiven (West Indes), David (Connie), Gregory, Gerald (Mary) Anstey; sisters-in-law: Betty McNiven, Patricia (Austin) Robinson, (NB), Brenda (Harvey) Chafe. Many nieces nephews, relatives and friends, too numerous to mention. As well as the staff, doctors (especially Aaron McKim) and caregivers at The Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge, Torbay Road where he was loved and cared for the past one and a half years along with his wife. Michael was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Thursday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at Holy Rosary Church, Portugal Cove. Cremation to follow. Inurnment at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Michael’s memory may be made to The Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge.
