Passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013, in the Halifax Infirmary, N.S. Dr. Michio Suzuki was born February 23, 1928 in Japan.
He is predeceased by his parents, Hideo and Miyoko, and survived by his wife, Hisako; his brothers, Fumio and Yoshio; his daughter, Makiko (Paul) Chiasson; son, Boko Yasuhiro (Amy) Suzuki; and daughter, Kristine (Alex) Sasieta; and his grandchildren, Allison and Audrey Chiasson, D'ette Bourchier and Kimiko Suzuki, and Anjelica, Nicolas, and Victoria Sasieta.
After completing his PhD of Science at Tohoku University in Japan, Michio moved with his family to Ottawa in 1964 to work for the National Research Council. He then came to Prince Edward Island in 1966, where he lived for over 40 years. Michio was a research scientist for 25 years at the Agriculture Canada Research Station in Charlottetown. In 1993 he wrote and published the book "Science & Technology of Fructans". He was a very active member and Organist Emeritus at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Charlottetown, as well as the Royal Canadian College of Organists.
Michio was a devoted husband and father who passed on his love of music to his three children and taught them all piano. In addition to his passion for music, Michio was an avid bridge player, and also enjoyed playing softball and curling.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Beatrice Fudge and Dr. Adrienne Watson for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to Dr. Gubitz and the Palliative Care nurses in the Division of Neurology at the Halifax Infirmary, as well as the staff at Aberdeen Hall, Parkland Homes, Halifax.
Cremation has taken place, and funeral will take place at a later date at St. Paul's Church, Charlottetown.
