It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Jean Caldwell at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay, on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Myrtle (Noye) Burgess.
Jean was a member of Chalmers United Church, Dominion, and Warden United Church, Glace Bay, as well as a longtime member of the UCW. Jean enjoyed gardening, travelling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed her companionship with her many canine friends.
Jean is survived by her loving sons, Peter (Jean), Ottawa, Christopher (Mickey), Dominion, Jon (Judy), River Ryan; eight wonderful grandchildren, Danielle, Melvin, Angela, Alicia, Jon-Adam, Joshua, Melissa and Angelina as well as her nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Melvin, sons, Victor and Keith.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Warden United Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Interment to take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Glace Bay Food Bank, Warden United Church or Salvation Army.
The family would like to thank Dr. Soussou, and the staff of the 4th floor, and 3rd Floor East for all you kindness and care given to Jean.
