Ada (Vail) MacNeill

Ada (Vail) MacNeill

Lieu de naissance : Sydney
Date de naissance : 6 août 1926

Date de décès : 21 février 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of Ada Annie MacNeill of Dartmouth, announces her passing on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Sydney on Aug. 6, 1926, she was the eldest daughter of the late Murvale and Emily (Oram) Vail.
Ada married Harper MacNeill, her one and only love, on Oct. 22, 1949, and they were together for 56 years. She loved to dance and there was never a day that passed without her listening to music. Before she was married, she worked in the office for Masons, Sydney and Bulova Watches, Toronto, thoroughly enjoying both jobs. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Sydney and, for many years, was the church secretary and head of the Mission Band. She loved playing cards and watching mysteries on television. Ada loved to chat and made sure she stayed in touch with all of her long-time friends. She stayed positive, no matter what the situation and always saw only the best in others. Before moving to Dartmouth, she had spent almost all of her life in Sydney and still considered it to be her home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Ada is survived by her four children, Emily Rehberg, Bruce MacNeill, Dartmouth; Susan (Charles) Lotherington, Whitby, Ont.; Ken (Myra), Windsor Junction; six grandchildren, Karen (Cory) Binder, Jennie (Carl) Clements, Jamie (Jeremy Fisher) Lotherington, Brandy (Daryl) Matheson, Holly MacNeill, Nicole (Malcolm Ernst) Rehberg; three great-grandchildren, Madison and Peyton Binder, Ryder Fisher and her sister, Pearl Stevens, Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harper; sister and best friend, Ruby MacKinnon; grandson, Robbie Lotherington.
There will be a celebration of her life on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 7-9 p.m. at 1 Bell Royale, Colby Village. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Sydney.
Donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
Special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Dartmouth General Hospital, the homecare workers from Northwood Homecare, Johann Clements, and Betty Armstrong, for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
