Campbell Wotherspoon

Lieu de naissance : Swift Current, Canada
Date de naissance : 8 avril 1919

Date de décès : 25 février 2013

WOTHERSPOON, Campbell Graham, age 93, went into the presence of his Lord on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, after a short illness. Graham was born on April 8, 1919, in Swift Current, SK to William and Lena Wotherspoon. He went to the Flats School where he completed grade nine. He loved agriculture and following school, he worked with his father, and then took over the family farm. His interest was in grain farming, which also led him to being active as a member of the Wheat Pool committee. Another interest found him on the Belvadere Telephone Board. The school he went to also served as a church on Sundays. It was there that he accepted Christ as Saviour and Lord as a boy. When the Church of the Open Bible was in its infancy the family would often come in from the farm for an evening service. Then in 1948, he became a member and not too long after, a part of the church council. He held the position of treasurer for about forty years. Often in springtime or harvest, he would stop the tractor, while the neighbours went on working, because it was church board meeting night. He did not see this as an inconvenience, it was a privilege. In June of 1961, he married Helen Klassen, the love of his life, and together they worked on the farm. Their home was a place where they sought to glorify the Lord. They both taught Sunday School and had a love for young people all their lives. Graham in his strong but quiet gentle way was an encourager of both young and old, and people of all ages were a part of his prayer time. Graham and Helen moved to Swift Current in 1988. After a few more years of farming, Graham retired. When in the city, he loved growing flowers but his specialty was roses. He brightened the rooms of many with a small bouquet. In March, 2012, Helen passed away. This was a hard adjustment for him. Reading, especially biographies of heroes of the faith, filled many hours and he enjoyed sharing what he had learned with others. Graham is survived by his sister, Ruby; brothers-in-law, Ernie (Helen) Klassen of Langley, BC, Arthur (Olga) Klassen of Herbert, SK; sisters-in-law, Linda Klassen of Swift Current, SK, Susan Fortman of Swift Current, SK, Ruby (Al) Kleps of Stanwood, WA and Gladys (Arthur) Yerex of Strathmore, AB; and many nieces, nephews and cousins which were very special to him. He has run the race well, may we follow him as he followed Christ. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Open Bible, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The pianist for the service was Wendy Cochrane with the congregation singing, “And Can It Be” and “Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross”. Sherry Young shared the tributes with Patsy Jury reading the obituary. Special music was provided by Charlotte Peters singing, “Face to Face” and by Randy and Karen Reddekopp singing, “My Jesus I Love Thee”. The ushers in the church were Robert Klassen and Ron Dickie. The Interment Service was held at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with the following serving as pallbearers, Dennis Bradley, David Wotherspoon, Leslie Wotherspoon, Darren Jury, Larry Klassen and Wade Klassen. In memory of Graham Wotherspoon, donations made to Gideons International or to the Church of the Open Bible Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK. For further information or to sign the Family Book of Condolences, please go to swiftcurrentfuneralhome.com
