SMITH, GEORGE ALBERT "BUD" - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B. on March 17, 2013, Mr. George Albert “Bud” Smith, husband of Mrs. Mary “Theresa” Smith of St. Andrews, N.B.. Born at McAdam, N.B. on February 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward and Eva (Brown) Smith. A loving husband, father and grandfather, in addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his children: Beth (Gary) Wilson of Halifax, N.S., Bruce (Sue) Smith of Halifax, N.S., Brenda (Keith) Pierce of St. Andrews, N.B., Bari (Mike) Gourley of Rusagonis, N.B. and Brent Smith of St. Andrews, N.B.; nine grandchildren: Bryn, Drew, Erin, Kelsey, Megan, Brandon, Brayton, Janet and Graham; stepchildren: Aleksander Nowicki of Boston, MA, Stefan Nowicki of St. Andrews, N.B., Ania Nowicki of Pembroke, MA and Ewa Nowicki of Calfornia; two step grandchildren: Aleksander Lee and Jocelyn and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bud was predeceased by his first wife, Jacqueline (Stuart) Smith. Prior to his retirement, Bud was the Owner/Operator of Cockburn’s Drug Store in St. Andrews for over 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who hunted and fished and was known in the local community as a talented artist. In his free time he also enjoyed a good game of bridge. Bud had a passion for music whether it be singing or dancing. Bud and Theresa enjoyed working together in their beautiful gardens. It was a true labour of love for them. Bud was a past member of the Algonquin Golf Club, the Heather Curling Club, the Kiwanis Club and was also a former member of the Spin Drifters.
Resting at the All Saints Anglican Church, St. Andrews, N.B. from where the service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Canon John Matheson officiating. The interment will be held at the St. Andrews Rural Cemetery at a later date. Visiting at the church will be held on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Following the service a reception will be held at the Church Hall. In Bud’s memory, floral tributes or donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural program would be appreciated by the family.
