Entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family, age 68 years, at Health Science Centre, St. John's in the early hours of Wednesday, March 20th, 2013. As a new season begins, so begins a peaceful and pain free sleep for our loved one. It brings us great sadness to announce the passing of a wonderful wife and loving mother, Carole Marie Heffernan, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Marie Freeman. Left with many loving memories, her husband and best friend, Adrian and her loving and devoted children, John (Gordina), Topsail and Ann Marie (Phillip Wong), Edmonton. Also survived by her sister, Barbara Freeman (Gabriella Goliger), Ottawa; brother Sterry Freeman (Daphne), St. John’s, nephew Mark (Alison) and niece Jillian (Matthew); and sister Valerie Freeman-Miller (James (deceased)), Halifax; her mother-in-law Blanche Starkes; sisters-in-law: Shirley Smith (Dave), Ottawa, Lucy Adams (Eric), Fredericton, Ruby Williams (Lloyd), (Paradise); Aunt Barbara Patterson (David (deceased), Ottawa and Uncle David Murphy (Genevieve), Topsail as well as large circle of relatives and friends. Last but not least, her feline friend Paddy. Carole was the original school secretary at St. Edward’s School in Kelligrews and was a friend to many students, parents and teachers before retiring just over 3 years ago. A very special and sincere thank you to Dr. Rorke, Dr. Tompkins, Nurse Jean Ann Ryan and the Nursing Staff on 4 North A at the Health Science Center for their compassion and care of Carole throughout her illness. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John’s. Visitation on Thursday - 21st March 2013 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday – 22nd March 2013 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral will take place on Saturday – 23rd March at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Church on Smithville Crescent in St. John’s. Interment at St. Thomas of Villa Nova, Topsail. It was Carole’s wish, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Church Lads’ Brigade or Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.

The endless love she bestowed,
