William \'Bud\' Dicks

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bud, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 6, 2010, after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Elliot and Ivy (May) Dicks.
After his retirement from a long career with Marine Atlantic, he moved to Dartmouth with his wife, Dorothy ‘Dot’ to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Collins); children, David (Linda) Dicks, Dartmouth, Darlene (Brian) Read, Halifax, Dana (Bernie) MacGillivray, Dartmouth, Derek Dicks, Brampton, Dale Denny, Ottawa; and grandchildren, Shannon Dicks (Nathan), Jennifer Dicks, Daniel Pyke, Christopher Pyke, Jordan Denny and Katie MacGillivray. He is also survived by sisters, Polly Reid and Revie Finney, both of Shelburne, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Jenny MacRae.
A private memorial was held with his immediate family.
