THORESON, Joan Kathleen
May 28, 1927 - March 26, 2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Thoreson, beloved wife of Roy Thoreson, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Joan passed away peacefully with her sons by her side.
Joan was born in Moose Jaw, SK, but spent most of her life in Calgary. Here she enjoyed a long career at Safeway in Market Mall and Westbrook and then at Wal-Mart for the last 18 years. She especially enjoyed her Wal-Mart family and they meant a great deal to her. She was lucky to have seen her children succeed and become adults, her grandchildren educated and holding responsible positions in society, as well as all five of her great-grandchildren. She had so much to be thankful for. Her family loved her and will miss her dearly.
Joan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy Thoreson; sons, Gordon (Barbara) McArthur, Mitch (Pat) Thoreson and Mike Thoreson; grandchildren, Paige McArthur Fernandes (John), Michelle McArthur Green (Ted), Samantha and Brett Thoreson; great-grandchildren, Jordann and Brooklynn Fernandes, William, Grayson, and Emma Green.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen and Henry Chipperfield; sister, Mid Chipperfield Harris; brother, Jim Chipperfield and his wife Evelyn.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
