Jenny Evelyn (Riggs) 'Nanny Why' Whynott
Lieu de naissance : Burin, Terre-Neuve, Canada

Our hearts were broken on April 9, 2013, when our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother took her last journey.
She was born in Burin, N.L., in 1932. She was the daughter of the late William and Nora (Taylor) Riggs.
She moved to Halifax, N.S. at the age of nine. She graduated from Business College and worked in the credit department at Sears. She married Stephen and moved to Louisbourg in 1953.
She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother and became very active in the community working in Girl Guides of Canada, CWL, Home & School and Ladies Auxiliary Louisbourg Volunteer Fire Department.
Jenny is survived by her daughters, Nora (Wayne) Pitcher, Louisbourg, Judith Anne (Melvin) Beaver, Kamloops, B.C.; and son, Stewart (Bonnie) Whynott, Louisbourg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Michelle, Amy and Adam, her great-grandchildren, Hilliary, Chole, Stephen, Nora and Tanner. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon Riggs, Halifax; brother-in-law, Lowell Ehler, Halifax; stepsister, Janet Larter, P.E.I. and many nieces and nephews who so enjoyed visiting Aunt Jenny in Louisbourg.
She is also survived by her extended family, Cathy, Davey, Charlene (Nick), Heather, Nicole and little Taylor.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Stephen, brother, Al Riggs, sister, Louisa (Ehler) and Nora in infancy.
Jenny will be sadly missed by very good friends, Florence Fiander and Colleen Billard.
Jenny’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff of 4C and Palliative Care at Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care and compassion they gave our mother. Also thanks to the VON and Home Care Workers who provided her with her daily care, support and friendship.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2013, at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Stella Maris Church with Fr. Raj. officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
