MILLER - Otto "Botchee" Miller passed away peacefully at 6:30 pm on April 11, 2013. Otto is survived by his wife Tina, his four daughters: Pearl & Doug Lautermilch (Calgary, AB), Janice & Blaine Baron (Okotoks, AB), Jackie Miller (Swift Current, SK), Melanie & Trent Dunn (Leduc, AB). His eight grand children; Jonathan & Chantal Lautermilch (Calgary, AB), Krystal Baron & Ben Crawford (Brisbane, AUS), Kristin Baron (Okotoks, AB), Janell Lautermilch (Calgary, AB), Tory Dunn (Leduc, AB), Benjamin Lautermilch (Calgary, AB), Carlie Dunn (Leduc, AB) and Emily Dunn (Leduc, AB). Along with numerous extended family, fishing and oil patch buddies. Otto was predeceased by his father Hendric Miller in 1988, his mother Elizabeth (Daniel) Miller in 1991 and a sister that died in infancy. Otto and Tina were married on April 12, 1958 in Medicine Hat, AB. They are one day short of celebrating 55 years of marriage. Otto was born in Dzuryn, Poland on January 12, 1927. He attended a private German/Polish school until age ten. His report card reveals he was very good at singing, excelled in math and was very well behaved. In 1937, Otto and Elizabeth immigrated to Canada to join Hendric in Duck Lake, SK. The family later moved to Wakaw, SK where Otto and his dad owned and operated a blacksmith shop together. Otto formed "Otto Miller Oilfield Welding Services LTD" in Swift Current. At one point he had two welding trucks and three employees. Those were good times working in the Swift Current oil patch for Mobil Oil. Otto became a Canadian Citizen on September 22, 1953. Some of our fondest memories will be of "Botchee" fishing. It was what he loved to do best. He would head out for a day of fishing in his "duck taped" Datsun truck, a familiar sight for many. He has passed his love of fishing along to his daughter Janice and his oldest grandson Jonathan. Fried fresh perch and homemade french fries were one of his specialties along with help from Tina. We will have many many memories of Dad/Grandpa held close to our hearts: a full pocket of Werther's original, his "special words" , the time he was an "English Man", and "how d'ya call it?". At home, it was the language of the day. We all knew what he meant. Dr. Gordon thank you for the excellent care and friendship you gave to Otto. He told us several times how you always made time for him even if he didn't have an appointment. Thank you so much! We would like to thank our family and friends for all of their support and love during this time. In keeping with Otto's wishes no funeral or memorial service will be held.
