Nellie W. Veno. 90 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in East Leicester she was a daughter of the late Titus and Minnie (Brown) Thompson.
Nellie worked as a Stenographer for Douglas & Rogers Insurance for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member and past president of the Amherst Golden Years Society and a past member and District Director for Canadian Calorie Counters.
Nellie will be sadly missed by her daughter, Carolyn McFarlane of New York ; Harold of Fredericton, grandaughter, Corinne.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Peter; sisters Frances Terry, Evelyn Fletcher, Rachel Gallagher; brothers , Leslie, Lorne, Ralston, Hilbert & Marshall, granddaughter Keri.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 7-9 p.m.. Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 23 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Donald Miller officiating. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or charity of your choice.
