It is with great sadness and deep regret that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Gregory Ferguson on April 21, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of late John U. and Marilyn (MacDonald) Ferguson.
Greg was employed as the caretaker for the Steelworkers Hall. He was a member of the Pensioners Club as well as a volunteer. He was an avid tarabish player, he enjoyed walking, biking and swimming. He enjoyed going to the Polar Bear Beach.
Gregory is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Laura (Pearce); daughter, Amber; granddaughters, Samantha and Melanie; sisters, Denise (Bucky), Virginia, Donna, Dominion; brothers, Gary, New Waterford, Eric (Laurie), New Brunswick. He is also survived by his in-laws, Eleanor and John Ludlow and the extended family, several nieces and nephews, as well as his special friends, Baby Sam and Marie Poirier.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Ferguson and brother-in-law, Barry Corbett.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013, at St. Theresa’s Church with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Reception to follow at the Sydney Pensioners Club, Inglis Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care or the Cancer Center, CBRH.
