WILLIAM ALFORD

William Russel Alford passed away May 2, 2013 in Maple Ridge, B.C. Bill was born August 5, 1931 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He moved to Moose Jaw, Sask. at a young age. There he met and married the love of his life Marlene Miller. Bill started to work for the CPR in 1948. He worked there till 1968 when Bill and Molly packed up the four kids and moved to Maple Ridge, B.C where he went to work for the Burlington Northern Railway. While in Moose Jaw they spent many good times with lifelong friends Jerry and Dot Smith, Bing Trew and cousins Eldon and Betty Nichols and Jack and Slip Moorecroft. Bill's main focus in life was his family. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved going and watching the grandchildren’s sporting events and Grandpa was well known and loved around the arenas. Bill was predeceased by his wife Marlene in 2007, infant son Duncan, father Charles Russel Alford and mother Pearl (Atcheson), stepmother Jean Alford and brother Gary Alford. He is survived by sons Terry and Tim Alford; daughters Janice Krook (Kevin), Kim Lynum (Leif); grandchildren Karlee DeLeon, Kale Krook (Jenny), Jesse Lynum (Jennie), Dylan Lynum and great-granddaughter Mackenzie. Bill is also survived by loving sisters Gail Bell (Jim), Donna Alford Douglas (Fred) and Jeanette Chura (Len) and several nephews and nieces.
