Bernard Clair Crockett


Crockett, Bernard Clair “Bernie” – 77, Hilden passed away May 12, 2013 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born October 3, 1935 in Eastville, Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Clair and Ethel (Richey) Crockett. He grew up and lived in Eastville before moving to Hilden. Bernie worked as a truck driver for his uncle, Vernon Crockett and later for Brookfield Lumber before retiring. Bernie enjoyed old time music, dancing and bowling. He was very proud of the work he and his wife, Joyce put into their home and property. Bernie went above and beyond for the care of his wife, Joyce who had Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by daughter, Tammie (Peter) Oosterom; grandson, Brad, all of Hilden; son, Douglas (Jamie) Hilden; grandsons, Jason (Laura) , Banff, Alta., Matthew, Truro; sister, Hazel Dickie, Truro. He will be sadly missed by his very special friend, Jean Clish, Valley. He was predeceased by his wife, Joyce; brother-in-law, Stan Dickie. The family would like to thank the wonderful care given by the staff of the 2nd and 3rd floor including the nurses and Dr. Donald Pugsley at the CEHHC, Truro. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 6-8 pm; memorial service on Wednesday, May 15 at 2 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
