1939 - 2013
Died in St. John's after a mercifully brief illness on May 14th. Born in Arnolds Cove, Placentia Bay, son of George Hynes Guy and Alice Louisa Adams. Loved and deeply mourned by his wife Kathie Housser; daughters: Rachel and Anne Guy; sister Iris Brett and her children Adam, Scott and Aimee; brothers-in-law: John, Stephen and Bruce Housser.
He was the winner of both a National Newspaper Award and National Magazine Award, and also winner of the Leacock Medal for Humour. He was a credit to his family, his profession, and to Newfoundland.
The family would like to thank staff of 4 South A. HSC and the wonderful team at the Palliative Care Unit. The family would also especially like to thank Drs. Roger Butler and Christine Caravan for their years of compassion and care.
