It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, grandfather and brother, Norman MacMullin on May 15, 2013.
Born in Pipers Cover, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Mary (MacKenzie)MacMullin.
In his younger years, Dad was taught hard work and dedication was something to strive for and he carried this work ethic throughout his life and instilled this in his children. Before Dad and Mom married, he built our home for his soon-to-be family. He took great pride in his home and enjoyed working around the yard. He established himself as a well-known, respected and trusted businessman operating MacMullin’s Esso for over 40 years. For 20 years, Dad loved his summers at Ben Eoin Beach and couldn’t wait to jump in the lake after a hard days work. He spent many days fishing on the Bras d’Or Lakes both as a child and as an adult. Since his retirement, Dad devoted his time caring for his wife Peggy during her illness.
Left to mourn are his loving children, Norma Jean (Fred), Middle Sackville, N.S., Dean (Janice), Bedford, N.S., Gayle (Earl), Middle Sackville, N.S., and Cara, Toronto.
Papa will be deeply missed by grandchildren, Mitchell, Taylor, Hilary, Nicole, James and Abigayle. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Sander (Norma), Lyle (Gladys), Hector (Anne), Roddie, Angus (Michelle), Jackie (Ann Marie), Sarah (Bert), Barbara (Paul), Dena (Martin), Delores (Chris), Ray (Ginnie), Lucina (Mike), Florence, Theresa (Barry) and Arlene (Jamie).
Besides his parents, Dad was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife, Peggy (one year ago), nephew, Rodney and sister-in-law, Ann Marie.
We would like to thank Dad’s brothers and sisters and all the neighbours for their endless support and kindness, especially during the last year. Your thoughtfulness and generosity will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Saturday, May 18 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, May 20 at St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
