It is with deep regret that we, Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame, announce the peaceful death of Sr. Elizabeth O’Reilly at our CND Healthcare Center, Sydney, on Thursday, May 23, 2013
Sister was born in Sydney, N.S., in 1919, the daughter of the late Peter J. O’Reilly and Mary (MacNeil) O’Reilly. She entered the Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1940 and was professed in 1942. She served many years as a very dedicated music teacher and reading specialist. Her love for music enriched and enhanced the lives of her students. During her teaching years she ministered in Iona, Inverness, Baddeck, Truro, New Glasgow and Sydney. Her later years were spent at Holy Redeemer Convent and Parkland Cape Breton, Sydney until moving to the CND Healthcare Center.
Sister Elizabeth is survived by her brother, Roderick (Mary), Toronto, Ont., also nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Edmund (Bridgit) and Danny (Dorothy).
Visitation for Sr. Elizabeth will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with prayer services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Sydney with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
